Basketball Recap: Steel Valley Ironmen vs. Sto-Rox Vikings
The Steel Valley Ironmen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. Their tough 54-28 loss to Sto-Rox might stick with them for a while. If Steel Valley was looking for revenge after losing 65-50 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Robert Sykes Jr had a dynamite game for Sto-Rox, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sykes Jr has scored all season. Lamont Goodwine was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 assists.
Steel Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Sto-Rox, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steel Valley will take on the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Sto-Rox, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The timing isn't great for Westinghouse: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while the Vikings have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
