Soccer Game Preview: Middleton vs. Sun Prairie West

The Middleton Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Sun Prairie West Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Middleton took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Janesville Parker a 7-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Middleton's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Sun Prairie West made easy work of Madison East on Thursday and carried off a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for Sun Prairie West, who have now won six games by four goals or more so far this season.

Middleton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-1-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven contests. As for Sun Prairie West, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Middleton took their victory against Sun Prairie West when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
