Baseball Recap: Kenton Ridge Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Kenton Ridge entered their tilt with Bellefontaine on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chieftains a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Zach Deel made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Kenton Ridge's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Deel was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Aiden Yeatts was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Jake Beard, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Kenton Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Kenton Ridge pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bellefontaine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Kenton Ridge will face off against Benjamin Logan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellefontaine will be paying especially close attention to the Cougars' match: after the Cougars faces off against the Raiders, they'll take on Bellefontaine again at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
