Northwood Academy is 2-7 against Pinewood Prep since August of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Northwood Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Northwood Academy is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Porter-Gaud: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Chargers blew the Cyclones out of the water with a 34-7 final score. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won six matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.

Kaven Ford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 200 yards and three scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Those 200 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Polite, who rushed for 83 yards and a pair of TDs.
Northwood Academy's run defense was locked in: Porter-Gaud could only muster 0.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Cody McCleary for the heroic effort on defense: he. Northwood Academy didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged eight.
Northwood Academy's defense didn't let Scott Tibbals, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Porter-Gaud's QB won't forget Antwaun Henderson anytime soon given he sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Pinewood Prep came up short against Wilson Hall last Friday and fell 28-21.
Northwood Academy will need to focus on slowing down Silas Brawner, one of several Pinewood Prep players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Lavoris Lucas was Brawner's top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and one score.
Pinewood Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Northwood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Northwood Academy has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 218.8 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Pinewood Prep has preferred to attack from the air: they average 272.9 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
