Baseball Recap: Saddleback Takes a Loss

Saddleback extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-16. They came up short against the Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vaqueros this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in March.

Joaquin Cornejo made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

As for Rancho Alamitos, they moved to 9-9 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.

On Rancho Alamitos' side, Andrew Ballesta was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Ballesta a new career-high. Jacob Neri was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

While Saddleback had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
