Cardinal Newman barely beat Rancho Cotate the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Cougars on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Cardinals, who have now won six games in a row.

Josh Jannicelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caden Owen was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Wedge, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Cardinal Newman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cardinal Newman's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Rancho Cotate, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-12.
