Softball Recap: Brillion Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Brillion put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Valders Vikings by a score of 7-2. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 8-3 win the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Grace Krueger made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Carter Miller was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amaya Brooks, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Brillion lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Brillion's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Valders, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brillion will square off against Roncalli at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Valders, they will challenge Oostburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
