MaxPreps is proud to again sponsor the Ohio Athlete of the Week awards during the 2019-20 school year.

Each week during the season (regular and post), there will be a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. Each winner receives a letter and award patch for their varsity jacket. 

How does it work?

Nominees are selected from statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may request their free account here. Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners (2 per week) are announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.

Participants may vote as many times as they want. It's a competition.

Week 1 Ohio High School Athlete of the Week Nominees

Bryce Toomire, Clay (Portsmouth) Boys Soccer
Senior tied the state record for most consecutive goals in a game with nine in a win over Chesapeake. That tally ranks third all-time for goals in a single-game. Also had five goals and an assist in a win over Portsmouth West and a goal and four assists in a win over Fairfield (Leesburg).

EMILY LONDOT, Utica Volleyball
Senior tallied 140 kills, 54 digs, 19 blocks and 11 aces as the Redskins opened the season with wins over Fredericktown, Central Crossing, Licking Valley, Crooksville, Marietta and West Muskingum. 
Zane Paul, Botkins Boys Soccer
Junior scored five goals in a win over Franklin-Monroe and added three goals and an assist in a win over Twin Valley South.

Macy Malin, St. Clairsville Girls Soccer
Junior had four goals and an assist in a win over East Liverpool and four goals in a win over Cambridge. Also had three goals and an assist in a win over Indian Creek.

2019 Ohio High School Volleyball Statewide Stat Leaders

Madyson Brown, Harding (Warren) Girls Soccer
Sophomore scored six goals in a win over Warren JFK.



Camryn Hedrick, Monroeville Volleyball
Senior accounted for 117 assists, 28 digs and 13 kills as the Eagles opened with wins over Norwalk St. Paul, Lexington and Carey.

2019 Ohio High School Boys Soccer Statewide Stat Leaders

Addison Fagan, New Richmond Girls Soccer
Senior had five assists and a goal in a win over Goshen.

Jules Fink, Kings (Kings Mills) Volleyball
Junior tallied 73 kills and 15 blocks as the Knights opened with wins over Campbell County (Ky.), Higlands (Ky.), Scott (Ky.) and Oak Hills.
