Recap: Tradition Prep Pirates vs. Westwood Panthers
There's no place like home for the Tradition Prep Pirates, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They managed a 50-44 win over Westwood on Thursday. This was payback for Tradition Prep, who suffered a 59-44 loss the last time these two teams met.
Tradition Prep found their leader in underclassman Aydan Fields, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Joksan Pena, who scored ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Westwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marvenshy Duroseau. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Duroseau scored 15 or more points. Jacob Mills was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Tradition Prep's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Westwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tradition Prep will take on St. Edward's at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westwood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Central at 6:00 p.m. Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 336 points over their last five matchups.
