Basketball Recap: Sam Rayburn Comes Up Short

Sam Rayburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dobie Longhorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-53 back in January.

Despite the loss, Sam Rayburn saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josiah Vela went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Martinez, who posted five points and seven boards.

Sam Rayburn's defeat dropped their record down to 6-26. As for Dobie, their win bumped their record up to 7-25.

Sam Rayburn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-50 loss against Pasadena Memorial on the 8th. As for Dobie, they have also already played their next matchup, a 63-54 defeat against Alvin on the 8th.
