Softball Recap: El Rancho Wins Going Away Against Don Lugo

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Hills, El Rancho was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Don Lugo Conquistadores with a sharp 11-2 victory. The Dons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Conquistadores, too.

El Rancho got a great performance from Lauren Cervantes as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Cervantes has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Delilah Gonzalez, who scored two runs while going 4-for-6. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylene Espinosa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

El Rancho now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Don Lugo, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Rancho will take on Downey at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Don Lugo, they will challenge Colony at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
