Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Academy Mustangs vs. Madison Academy Mustangs

Oakwood Academy will challenge Madison Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oakwood Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Oakwood Academy turned things around against Park Crossing on Wednesday. They secured a 68-64 W over the Thunderbirds.

Oakwood Academy had a senior duo take command as Jadon Williams shot 53% from the field en route to 21 points along with eight boards and five assists and Isaiah Gideon went 5-for-8 to rack up 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Jayson McCoy was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Oakwood Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Madison Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 53-47 to Auburn.

Madison Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Oakwood Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Oakwood Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Madison Academy in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 68-62 victory.
