Recap: Edmond Memorial Bulldogs vs. Owasso Rams

The Edmond Memorial Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 42 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 49-42 to Owasso. While losing is never fun, Edmond Memorial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Owasso is ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why Edmond Memorial lost, one person who can't be blamed is David McComb. Despite the final result, he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Nick Booker was another key contributor, gaining 107 total yards and two touchdowns.

Owasso found their leader in underclassman Jayson Moll, who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Knox Dyson, who threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns.

Edmond Memorial has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Owasso, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edmond Memorial's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Union at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Union knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Edmond Memorial likes a good challenge. As for Owasso, they will look to defend their home field on October 27th against Edmond Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m.
