Preview: Westwood Cardinals vs. Dumont Huskies
Westwood is 9-0 against Dumont since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Westwood Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Dumont Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Westwood will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
Westwood stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Ridgefield Park at home to the tune of 35-0. Given Westwood's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Ridgefield Park is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Steve Klein, who rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Robbie Carcich was another key contributor, rushing for 16 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Dumont lost to Mahwah on the road by a decisive 27-13 margin on Friday.
Westwood's win bumped their season record to 8-0 while Dumont's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Westwood against Dumont in their previous matchup back in September as the squad secured a 49-7 win. Will Westwood repeat their success, or does Dumont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
