Basketball Recap: Academy of the Sacred Heart Comes Up Short

Academy of the Sacred Heart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Parkway Christian Eagles, falling 45-8. The Gazelles lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 36-22 score last time.

Parkway Christian was led to victory by Tamerah Peterson and Angelina Marchesi. Peterson went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points, while Marchesi posted eight points along with 11 boards and seven steals. Peterson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 26 games she's played dating back to last season. Kelsey Smith was another key player, putting up six points and four steals.

Academy of the Sacred Heart's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Parkway Christian, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy of the Sacred Heart will venture away from home to take on Southfield Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Parkway Christian, they will head out to challenge Our Lady of the Lakes at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
