Softball Recap: Duchesne Extends Road Winning Streak to Nine

Duchesne had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs 5-3. Five seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Kira Grant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chezney Farnsworth was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Prezley Farnsworth, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Duchesne lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Duchesne pushed their record up to 21-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Gunnison Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-8 record this season.

Duchesne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gunnison Valley, they will take on Carbon at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dinos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.64 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
