Preview: Peabody Golden Tide vs. Dyer County Choctaws
Peabody has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Dyer County Choctaws at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Peabody knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Dyer County likes a good challenge.
Peabody posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They breezed by Ripley at home to the tune of 64-16. Given Peabody's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Ripley is ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brilee Price was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Jamyia Carter was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Dyer County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. The match between Dyer County and South Gibson wasn't particularly close, with Dyer County falling 49-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dyer County has scored all season.
Peabody is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Dyer County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Peabody didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Dyer County when the teams last played on January 9th, but they still walked away with a 55-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Peabody since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
