Recap: Wharton Tigers vs. El Campo Ricebirds

The Wharton Tigers won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by El Campo 78-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wharton has suffered yet this season.

Wharton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jacoryan Dickerson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Sims, Jr., who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.

Wharton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for El Campo, their victory bumped their record up to 6-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wharton will square off against Sealy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sealy is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. El Campo will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bellville at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
