Football Game Preview: Oak Ridge Pioneers vs. University Cougars + How To Watch

Oak Ridge has gone 8-1 against University recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pioneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Oak Ridge will be strutting in after a win while University will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Oak Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Colonial, taking the game 28-20. The Pioneers pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grenadiers cut but never quite recovered from.

Oak Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Antonio Fields led the charge by throwing for 173 yards and three TDs. The dominant performance also gave Fields a new career-high in passer rating (100.2).

Meanwhile, University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 56-7 loss at the hands of Innovation. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-0.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Oak Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Oak Ridge took their victory against University in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 47-26 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
