Baseball Game Preview: Hidden Valley Mustangs vs. Molalla Indians

The Hidden Valley Mustangs will head out to square off against the Molalla Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hidden Valley 2.8, Molalla 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

14 must be Hidden Valley's lucky number: they beat Klamath Union with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Mustangs beat the Pelicans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-4. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Jack Matthew made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caden Kuhnert was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Logan Law, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Molalla never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Tillamook. The victory was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on four straight.

Molalla's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nyxon Hopping, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hidden Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Molalla, their record now sits at 20-6.
