Baseball Recap: Bishop McDevitt Takes a Loss

The Bishop McDevitt Crusaders didn't have quite enough to beat the Camp Hill Lions on Friday and fell 4-3.

Bishop McDevitt got a good showing from Vince Leoni, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Leoni is becoming a predictor of the Crusaders' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Bishop McDevitt saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jett Daugherty, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Zach Kelemen was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Bishop McDevitt dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Camp Hill, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.

Coming up, Bishop McDevitt will face off against Gettysburg at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Camp Hill, they will challenge Bermudian Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
