It was a good run, but Roseville unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 66-58 to the Woodcreek Timberwolves. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), the Tigers still had to take the loss.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Ritter, who posted 15 points along with six assists and five steals. Ritter has become a key player for Roseville: the team is 12-5 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthias Howard, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.
It was another big night for Michael Kirby, Jr., who went 10 of 14 en route to 29 points and five steals for Woodcreek. The dominant performance gave Kirby, Jr. a new career-high in points. Zach Bualat was another key player, going 7 for 15 on his way to 17 points and three steals.
Roseville's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Woodcreek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.
Roseville and Woodcreek should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Roseville will challenge Yuba City at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st up 473 places (314 vs. 787). Roseville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67 points per game this season. Similarly, Woodcreek (ranked 58th) will meet Ponderosa (ranked 685th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
