Volleyball Recap: Gulf Coast HEAT Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Inspiration Academy, Gulf Coast HEAT was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Booker Tornadoes. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gulf Coast HEAT had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-23, 25-12, 25-22.

Telan Gardner paced Gulf Coast HEAT's offense, picking up ten kills. Gardner got some help from Mikayla Badenhorst and her 12 assists. Badenhorst was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Gulf Coast HEAT now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Booker, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Gulf Coast HEAT will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sarasota Military Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for Booker, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Hardee at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
