Basketball Game Preview: Robstown Cottonpickers vs. Calallen Wildcats

Robstown hasn't had much luck against Calallen recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Robstown Cottonpickers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Calallen Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Robstown is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 45-38 to Harmony School of Excellence.

Meanwhile, Calallen was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 41-37 to Tuloso-Midway. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Robstown will have to contain Tanner Martinez as he made an impact in Calallen's last game. He went 9 for 19 on his way to 21 points and six boards. That's the most points Martinez has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Dennis, who posted three points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Calallen's defeat dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Robstown, their loss dropped their record down to 4-22.

Things could have been worse for Robstown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-52 loss to Calallen in their previous matchup on January 14th.
