Basketball Game Preview: Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes vs. Edinburg Wildcats

The Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes are taking a road trip to take on the Edinburg Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Thursday, Griggsville-Perry was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-43 to Calhoun. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while the Warriors are ranked 207th).

Garrett Woodward put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 5-for-9 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Logan Fencik, who posted seven points and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Edinburg came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 57-50 win over the Lancers.

Griggsville-Perry's loss dropped their record down to 13-18. As for Edinburg, their record is now 24-3.

Griggsville-Perry couldn't quite finish off Edinburg in their previous matchup last Thursday and fell 53-51. Can Griggsville-Perry avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
