Game recap: La Cueva High School Football Team beats Carlsbad

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for La Cueva (Albuquerque, N.M.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Bears upset Carlsbad (N.M.) 41-21.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Zach Silva to Nathan Berget in the first quarter, the Bears led 28-7 at the half.

La Cueva expanded its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. LC scored two times in the third, including once on a defensive touchdown.

The Albuquerque school's standout player in the win was Loidolt. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.

Rodney Holcomb played well for the Cavemen. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to six on the year.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 17-7 win for the Bears.

La Cueva (6-1) will play a 5A District 2 game against Eldorado next week, while Carlsbad (4-4) will take on Hobbs in a 5A District 4 game.
