Basketball Game Preview: Baraga Vikings vs. Houghton Gremlins

After both having extra time off, the Baraga Vikings and the Houghton Gremlins will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Houghton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Baraga, who comes in off a win.

Two weeks ago, Baraga earned a 53-44 win over Stephenson.

Meanwhile, Houghton suffered their closest loss since January 16th two weeks ago. They fell just short of Gladstone by a score of 39-36. While losing is never fun, the Gremlins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Braves are ranked 15th).

Baraga's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.2 points per game. As for Houghton, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Baraga skirted past Houghton 70-67 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baraga since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
