Volleyball Recap: Viera's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Viera, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs 2-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Viera had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-22, 15-10.

Viera can attribute much of their success to Ella Brand, who had nine digs and four aces. That's the most digs Brand has posted over her last six games. Brooke Bordwine also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Viera was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matches.

Viera's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Flagler Palm Coast, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Viera has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Wesley Chapel on the 30th. As for Flagler Palm Coast, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Oak Hall on the 30th.
