The Estancia Bears will challenge the Pecos Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Estancia has three straight wins, Pecos has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Estancia got the win against Penasco by a conclusive 19-6. Considering the Bears have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tarin Cantu made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cantu was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Estancia got a massive performance out of Matthew Montoya, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Montoya has become a key player for the Bears: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Devon Chavez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Estancia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 8-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Pecos came up short against Clayton on Saturday and fell 16-12.
Emiliano Torres led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikko Romero, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Pecos' defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Estancia, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Pecos' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Estancia has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Pecos, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Estancia's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Estancia couldn't quite get it done against Pecos in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 18-13. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
