Baseball Game Preview: West Scranton Invaders vs. Wallenpaupack Area Buckhorns

West Scranton hasn't had much luck against Wallenpaupack Area recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Invaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Buckhorns at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

West Scranton made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Delaware Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Invaders fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Invaders have suffered since March 30th.

West Scranton got a good showing from Tyler Scotch, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Scotch has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Scranton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anderson Hidalgo, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Aiden Williams also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Wallenpaupack Area came up short against Scranton Prep on Tuesday and fell 9-4. The Buckhorns have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Frank Church was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for West Scranton and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for Wallenpaupack Area, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
