Basketball Game Preview: Cascade Champions vs. Lewis County Panthers

The Cascade Champions will be taking part in a tournament against the Lewis County Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Saturday, Cascade was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to Cannon County. The loss continues a trend for the Champions in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite their defeat, Cascade saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lizzie Keele, who posted 25 points, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Keele a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sophie Ray, who had 16 points.

Meanwhile, Lewis County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 victory over Battle Creek on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won three in a row.

Lewis County's victory bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Cascade, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.

Everything went Cascade's way against Lewis County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Cascade made off with a 63-42 win. Does Cascade have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lewis County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
