Baseball Recap: Clermont Northeastern Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Clermont Northeastern ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Felicity-Franklin Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in April.

Grant Carlier made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Clermont Northeastern's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

Carlier wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Kelley, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Kelley has posted since back in April.

Clermont Northeastern's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Felicity-Franklin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clermont Northeastern will face off against Bethel-Tate at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Felicity-Franklin, they will host Fayetteville-Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
