Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Badgers vs. Valley Buffalos

Wayne has won three straight games at home, while Valley has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Wayne Badgers will welcome the Valley Buffalos at 7:00 p.m.

Wayne fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Milford on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. While the Badgers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 15-9 in the first quarter.

Despite their defeat, Wayne saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brayden Lee, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Peterson, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Wayne was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Enterprise on Friday, but they still walked away with a 52-48 win.

Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Wayne beat Valley 64-54 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Wayne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
