Basketball Preview: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. Forbush Falcons
Surry Central has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Forbush Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Forbush took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Surry Central, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Surry Central didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Buckin' Elks, but they still walked away with a 43-37 victory. The win was just what Surry Central needed coming off of a 60-27 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Surry Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sierra Carpenter, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Cave, who scored seven points along with two steals.
After soaring to a 39-point win in their last game, Forbush came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of North Surry by a score of 48-45. Forbush's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Surry Central's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-6. As for Forbush, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.
Surry Central was taken down by the Falcons 57-27 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Surry Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
