Basketball Game Preview: Chicago Vocational Cavaliers vs. Carver Challengers

After both having extra time off, the Chicago Vocational Cavaliers and the Carver Challengers will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row dating back to last season, Chicago Vocational turned things around against Chicago Washington back in December of 2024. They snuck past the Patriots with a 34-28 victory. The Cavaliers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Carver posted their closest win since January 24, 2024 back in December of 2024. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Englewood Stem, sneaking past 22-19. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Challengers as it put an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Chicago Vocational better focus on containing Journee Eggleston and Kennedy Wingfield as the pair were huge in Carver's win. Eggleston posted nine points, while Wingfield earned eight points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wingfield has scored at least a third of Carver's points.

Chicago Vocational's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Carver, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Chicago Vocational strolled past Carver in their previous meeting back in December of 2016 by a score of 35-20. Will Chicago Vocational repeat their success, or does Carver have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
