Softball Game Preview: Hutsonville/Palestine Tigers vs. Dieterich Movin Maroons

The Hutsonville/Palestine Tigers will face off against the Dieterich Movin Maroons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hutsonville/Palestine is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

On Tuesday, Hutsonville/Palestine needed a bit of extra time to put away Lawrenceville. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 9-3 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Hayden Monan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Ayla Cook and Lily Holcomb did most of the damage at the plate: Cook scored two runs and stole a base, while Holcomb scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, Cook posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Izzy Monan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Dieterich didn't have quite enough to beat Robinson on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Dieterich's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Hutsonville/Palestine, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Hutsonville/Palestine couldn't quite finish off Dieterich when the teams last played back in April of 2023 and fell 7-5. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
