Newton won the last time they faced Richland County and things went their way on Friday too. The Newton Eagles walked away with a 47-40 win over the Richland County Tigers. The Eagles didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Richland County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rex Hallam, who went 6-for-13 en route to 16 points. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Arjay Keller, who posted eight points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Newton's win bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Richland County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.
