Softball Preview: Winters Warriors vs. Colusa RedHawks

Winters is 0-10 against Colusa since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. Winters will face off against Colusa at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Winters got the win against Vacaville Christian by a conclusive 17-5. The Warriors have beaten the Falcons the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Colusa made easy work of Durham on Friday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the RedHawks.

Ava Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Lay, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Olivia Nair also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
