Baseball Game Preview: Rice Bulldogs vs. Scurry-Rosser Wildcats

Rice hasn't had much luck against Scurry-Rosser recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Rice has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rice is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Monday. They lost 11-1 to Palmer.

Meanwhile, Scurry-Rosser got themselves on the board against Grandview back in March, but Grandview never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Zebras. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Not much got past Cole Hartzel, who gave up just six hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Grandview off the board. Hartzel also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Scurry-Rosser is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Scurry-Rosser got a big performance out of Lincoln Wagner, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Wagner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Peavy, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Rice's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Scurry-Rosser, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
