Baseball Recap: Sequoyah Comes Up Short

Sequoyah had lost eight straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 8-19 to make it nine. They fell just short of the South-Doyle Cherokees by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cherokees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-6 on April 1st.

As for South-Doyle, their victory bumped their record up to 13-16-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 21st.

For South-Doyle's part, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Fisher Jacobs was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Sequoyah will face off against Lenoir City at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.61 runs per game on average), something the Chiefs will no doubt try to take advantage of. South-Doyle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
