Basketball Recap: Copan Takes a Loss

Copan lost against Wesleyan Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Copan Hornets lost 56-31 to the Wesleyan Christian Mustangs. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Copan still got an impressive performance from Elyzabeth Odum, who posted 19 points and five steals. That was a full 61.3% of Copan's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Copan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Copan's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Wesleyan Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Copan will host Barnsdall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wesleyan Christian, they will challenge Claremore Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wesleyan Christian is facing Claremore Christian at the right time seeing as Claremore Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
