Baseball Recap: Southampton Find Success

Southampton won the last time they faced John Glenn and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mariners came out on top against the Knights by a score of 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mariners.

Daniel McDonnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has become a key player for Southampton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jackson Romanow was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alex Mambrino, who earned three runs and one stolen base.

Southampton's record now sits at 6-10. As for John Glenn, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Southampton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
