Softball Game Preview: Providence Grove Patriots vs. Chatham Charter Knights

The Providence Grove Patriots will venture away from home to square off against the Chatham Charter Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Providence Grove lost 9-3 to Uwharrie Charter Academy on Tuesday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Chatham Charter's offense. They came up short against Clover Garden School on Tuesday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Ella Ingle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Chatham Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Providence Grove skirted past Chatham Charter 4-3 in their previous matchup on March 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Grove since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
