Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Pirates vs. Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors

The St. Mary's Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Mary's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.

St. Mary's is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Colorado Springs Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 55-44 to the Lions. The game marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, St. Mary's had strong showings from Michael Trechter, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards, and Bret Stewart, who posted eight points. Dominic Lewis was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Eagle Ridge Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. The contest between them and Valley didn't end well, with Eagle Ridge Academy falling 68-52. The Warriors were down 52-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Eagle Ridge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

St. Mary's took their win against Eagle Ridge Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 91-68. Will St. Mary's repeat their success, or does Eagle Ridge Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
