Softball Recap: Gallatin Takes Down Ranked Helena

Gallatin faced Helena in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Raptors came out on top against the Bengals by a score of 8-5. The victory was nothing new for the Raptors as they're now sitting on four straight.

Olivia Klemann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kelly Coon, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Parker Stevens was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gallatin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Helena only managed eight hits.

Gallatin's record now sits at 14-5. As for Helena, they moved to 17-3 with that loss, which also ended their 12-game winning streak.

Gallatin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Helena, they will challenge Big Sky at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bengals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season.
