It was fun while it lasted, but Humboldt's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Thursday. They fell just short of the St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers by a score of 48-46. The contest marked the Cubs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Humboldt's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colden Cook, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Asher Hart, who posted 12 points.

Humboldt's loss ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1. As for St. Mary's-Colgan, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Humboldt has already played their next contest (against Cherryvale), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Mary's-Colgan won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Carl Junction at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
