Softball Recap: Bishop Stang Comes Up Short

If Bishop Stang was feeling good fresh off their 20-8 takedown of Bourne last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinal Spellman Cardinals on Wednesday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Ava Texeira made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Brien, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Bishop Stang dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Bishop Stang will welcome Arlington Catholic at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cardinal Spellman, they will be playing at home against Shawsheen Valley Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
