Soccer Game Preview: Rochester vs. Hoquiam

The Rochester Warriors will head out to square off against the Hoquiam Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rochester will be strutting in after a win while Hoquiam will be coming in after a loss.

While Rochester didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let Ilwaco get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what Rochester needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Meanwhile, Hoquiam was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 8-1 to Raymond/South Bend. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Hoquiam were already down 4-0.

Rochester is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those five contests. Hoquiam's loss dropped their record down to 0-5-1.

Rochester came out on top in a nail-biter against Hoquiam in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rochester since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
