Volleyball Recap: Covenant Day Find Success

Covenant Day took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Cannon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Cougars on Friday. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Cougars on their court since August 12, 2022.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Covenant Day got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 21-25, 28-26, 23-25, 15-11.

Covenant Day can attribute much of their success to Maggie Shannon, who had 21 assists and eight digs. That's the most assists Shannon has posted since back in September of 2024.

Covenant Day has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Cannon, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-5.

After both having extra time off, Covenant Day and St. Mary's will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Cannon, they will take on Forsyth Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
