Basketball Recap: Trent Ipsen Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

Douglas won the last time they faced Galena and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Douglas Tigers blew past the Galena Grizzlies 83-61. The Tigers pushed the score to 67-41 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grizzlies cut but never quite recovered from.

Douglas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trent Ipsen, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points and five steals. That's the most steals Ipsen has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daron Kizer, who posted eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Douglas was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Douglas now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Galena, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Douglas Tigers challenge the Spanish Springs Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Spanish Springs will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Douglas surely won't give up without a fight. As for Galena, they are taking a road trip to square off against Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Galena is facing Carson at the right time seeing as Carson is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
